2009 - 2010 Club Championship

The Club Championship 2009 - 2010 has reached its conclusion. The awards of the Club Cup, the Grading Prize and the Special Prize will be made at the Club's Annual General Meeting.

The winner of this year's Club Championship is Philip Fallon, who will hold the Club Cup for one year. Philip's score is an outstanding 7 out of 7, 1½ points ahead of the next contender, a very convincing victory. Congratulations, Philip.

Second place goes to Ola Winfridsson on 5½ points and third place to Tom Bramley, who narrowly pushes Gabor Sirokmany into fourth place on tie break, both having 5 points. Congratulations.

The Grading Prize, which goes to the player with the highest number of points from amongst players whose grades or estimated grades are less than 130, is awarded to Heather Burgess (grade 116) who obtained 3½ points. Congratulations, Heather. The grading prize is worth £25.

The Special Prize is awarded to David Redman. David is 11 years of age and is the youngest player in the tournament, yet he achieved 4 points, an outstanding result for one so young and considering the strength of the opposition. Only 6 players out of the 30 in the tournament gained more points than David. The prize fund, which stands at £42.50, is in surplus, due to the generosity of all who have donated to it, which permits this further award to be made. This prize is worth £17.50.
