Here are some upcoming local events that you may be interested in attending in 2006 - 2007. For further information, please see the East Anglian Chess Union, English Chess Federation or British Chess Magazine websites.

EACU Individual Champion

The title of EACU Individual Champion is awarded to the player with the highest aggregate score in the top section from 2 of the 3 weekend tournaments held in the East Anglian Chess Union. These tournaments are the Bury St Edmunds Congress, the Norfolk Open Congress at Great Yarmouth and the EACU Congress at Newmarket. In addition, the EACU player will win a £50 cash prize, and will also qualify for a place in the 2007 Smith & Williamson British Championship, if not already qualified. (An EACU player is one who lives in, or has for a consecutive 5 year period lived in, or is at full time education in, or was born in, or plays for a club in or affiliated to, Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire, Hunts & Peterborough, Norfolk or Suffolk).

EACU Tournaments

14th - 15th October 2006 - Bury St Edmunds Chess Congress (British Champ Qualifying place).

21st January 2007 - Norfolk Quickplay Congress.

28th - 29th April 2007 - Great Yarmouth Chess Congress (British Champ Qualifying place).

Unconfirmed for 2007 - Newmarket Chess Congress (British Champ Qualifying place).
