Published 17th September 2007

Cambridgeshire County Chess Association have announced details for their 2007 - 2008 Individual Championship. All chess players living in Cambridgeshire and all members of clubs affiliated to the Cambridgeshire County Chess Association are eligible. Entry is entirely free.

Entries need to be received by Cambridgeshire County Chess Association by 21st October. It is now too late to register via this website, but you can contact us and we will put you in touch with the organisers.

All entries will be seeded into ECF grade strength order. If you wish to enter as an ungraded player, please provide an estimate of your playing strength. Progress will be on a knock-out basis.

Official round venues and dates are given below. The draw will be published at least 7 days before the first round. Note that there is no reason why individual games may not be played privately at the players' convenience, provided that the organisers are notified in advance, but please note that the private arrangement rules have been tightened up to prevent gamesmanship or abuse. Please treat your opponent with respect - any player who cannot provide a justifiable reason for their absence and who has not notified their opponent beforehand will be disqualified! A full copy of the rules are available on request.

Details of the final will be announced privately before the 30th April Jamboree. In the event that there are more than 32 entries, a Semi-final is to be played by 31st March.

Note that there are five weeks between each of the early rounds to assist in getting the matches played. Games are to be played to the current CCCA League Competition rules. Playing rate will therefore be 36 moves in 75 minutes, followed by 15 minutes quick-play finish. A shorter game may be played if both players agree, provided that they notify the tournament controller. However, games resolved this way may be void for grading purposes. Players are to draw for choice of colours on the night of the game. Players have until the week before the next round date to resolve a tie, playing as many times as they wish. After this, continuously drawn results will require a tie-break to be played in the following 7 days. Additional time will only be given at the discretion of the tournament controller. See the full rules for more detail.

Good luck to all competitors!
